CREATE

Create Program-Past Years (not currently available)

May is the month that we celebrate Arts in Education with our school-wide CREATE project. CREATE is a variety of multi-age, creative workshops held during 3 Friday mornings. Each year a theme is selected and through a diverse mixture of many workshops, the theme is brought to life through art and creative play. This project continues to be made possible through the dedication and support of the many parents, artists, community, and staff members whose time and talents we value greatly.

CREATE, our fine arts program, was born out of the intense desire of one teacher and a small group of community artists to bring the gifts of children to life through art creation. The artists who have shared with us their talents and kindness have, every year, raved about the tremendous impact CREATE has on our children and their appreciation of Art.

To walk into our school is to walk into a virtual art exhibit of children’s creative talents with every medium represented as permanent fixtures on its walls. Pottery, paints, plasticine, tile, wood, soil, rocks, and much more has come to life  in the hearts of so many children and brought true meaning to the words “I know I can do it.”

Our workshops are multi-age and inclusive and the projects are designed to be appropriate to developing levels of skills, interest and understanding. Although students express their interest in workshops of choice, care is taken to assign students to workshops that relate to their interest but offer experiences they haven’t had before and will prove to be supportive of their learning.

We thank all those who have volunteered to support a workshop!
